Nokia shows Touch UI phone to compete with iPhone

At a developer’s conference in California yesterday, handset manufacturer Nokia announced its official entry into the touch screen phone market. The touch centric smartphone, codenamed the “Tube, was featured in a slide show during the meeting. Not much was revealed during the PowerPoint presentation except that the new device will have a touch UI, similar to the iPhone, and will suport Java apps. Nokia provided no hints on pricing or when the device would become available. [via MobileBurn]
