China’s Foxconn to build 3mil 3G iPhones for June launch
DigitTimes has a story about a report in the Chineses language Commercial Times that China’s Foxconn Electronics has landed the contract for the 3G iPhone, and that Foxconn is expecting to start production in May. The report says that Foxconn is to build a whopping 3 million units for the 3G iPhone’s June launch.
Foxconn is the company that has built all of the current first generation iPhones for Apple. The report in the Commercial Times says that Foxconn is expected to make 24 to 25 million 3G iPhones over the lifetime of the product. That’s a heck of a lot of phones.
